The Kosha Story
The Millet Story
This little superfood grain is technically a seed (like Quinoa), was once far more prominent in human diets; it played a pivotal role in the rise of multi-crop agriculture and settled farming societies. Millets are highly nutritious, climate-resilient crops, packed with protein, minerals and fibre, naturally gluten-free and low-glycemic. This makes millets not only a superfood but also a "SmartFood"!
Smart Foods are foods that are good for the consumers, good for the farmers and good for the planet!
The Founder Story
Sujala is a Food Scientist and Social Entrepreneur, passionate about making a difference in people's lives through food!Born and raised in India, Sujala immigrated to Canada to attend university in Manitoba and spent her early career years working in the food industry developing products for both startups and eventually large corporations in Canada. Roots in India planted the concept of eating diverse foods and cooking from scratch in Sujala's life and she was surprised to observe the increasing options of unhealthy and unsustainable foods in the grocery aisles, despite working in the food industry. As she became a mom, she grew more concerned about how the packaged foods category is filled by products loaded with sugars, artificial ingredients and additives. The products she was creating at her corporate role wasn't any different and it did not align well with her values and the impact she wanted to create in the world. She felt the responsibility to 'be the change', especially being equipped with years of experience in the food industry. Hence Kosha Foods was born.
